Q-SYS Escape Room — “The Lab”

As Creative Lead for this interactive escape room experience, Sean Cawelti collaborated on puzzle design and developed all video content for a fast-paced 10-minute challenge presented inside the Q-SYS trade show booth.

Themed as a high-voltage electronics lab overtaken by a rogue engineer, the room was powered entirely by the Q-SYS control engine, which seamlessly managed lighting, sound, effects, puzzles, and media in real time.

Participants from around the world had just ten minutes to solve logic-based challenges, interact with responsive props, and escape the clutches of the Mad Engineer.

Cawelti’s contributions included green screen compositing, motion graphics, animated effects, and layered video environments. He also designed interactive puzzles using embedded audio and video, and developed scenic elements, specialty props, and set dressing to enrich the story world—blending narrative, humor, and technology throughout the experience.

The escape room premiered at ISE 2025 in Barcelona and will next appear at InfoComm 2025 in Orlando.
